As incidents of malware and spyware increase, our company has faced challenges with a significant influx of spam emails. This advanced security solution, which includes Cisco® IronPort Email Security, enables the company to leverage the latest advancements in threat detection and prevention. Key innovations include:
• Dynamic Vectoring and Streaming engine: a groundbreaking scanning tool for filtering signature-based spyware and malware.
• Cisco Security Intelligence Operations (SIO): a blend of threat telemetry, a global team of research engineers, and advanced security modeling. SIO also features Sender Base, a threat-tracking database that monitors Internet traffic patterns and data from over 100,000 organizations globally.
• Pre-execution Environment (PXE) technology: leading-edge email encryption that helps ensure compliance with secure messaging and regulatory standards.

As the project evolved, its scope expanded when the company’s HR department identified an opportunity to enhance the monitoring and governance of email usage throughout the organization.

In response to these new requirements, Cisco Security successfully integrated the Cisco Threat Response tool with the new security platform. This solution not only allows for the restriction of inappropriate emails but also empowers HR to generate automated reports, analyze data, and take necessary corrective actions.

The Result
The implementation of Cisco Security solutions has significantly enhanced the customer's email protection in various ways.

Suspicious traffic and potential threats are now automatically detected and neutralized in the cloud before they can reach users' desktops. This proactive strategy is bolstered by the Security Intelligence Operations (SIO), which processes over 30 billion queries each day and improves malware detection rates by more than 20 percent compared to products that rely solely on signature-based scanning. Within the first six months, the customer successfully identified numerous malicious threats and reduced spam levels by an impressive 99.3 percent.

Employees have become more conscious of their responsibilities regarding safe internet practices. The IT security policy is reinforced by the capability to swiftly block websites that are commonly targeted by malware and spyware. A member of the IT team remarked, “The Cisco IronPort solution provides us with significantly enhanced control. For instance, remote employees at a production site can utilize PCs in an internet café during their breaks.”

The risk of legitimate emails containing customer orders, breeder data, agreements, or documentation being mistakenly quarantined has been minimized.

“We have experienced a 75 percent decrease in false positives, which occur when the scanner mistakenly identifies a vulnerability,” stated a member of the IT team. “In simpler terms, this means that more legitimate emails are successfully passing through the system, allowing our supply chain to operate more effectively and efficiently. Additionally, if any issues arise, our system alerts users, empowering them to release specific types of emails themselves.”

The project has also yielded positive outcomes for Noble’s IT team. “The number of calls to our IT Service Desk has significantly decreased,” noted a senior management representative. “Overall, we spend very little time addressing security issues, enabling us to focus on planning and executing projects that will enhance the value of the business.”
